MEMBERS' FIRST CARS

Excitement was in the air as WAYS for Life member A.B. received his first car from volunteer Stella Tobin!

A.B. came to WAYS for Life in 2020 at the age of 18. He was living with his great-grandmother and needed help with a legal matter, getting his GED, clothes and food, and a job. He had not been in school since the 5th grade. After the WAYS legal team helped him resolve his legal matter, he enrolled in the GED FastTrack program, as well as the WAYS Career Pathways Ready for Work program. He also participated in the WAYS 10-week pilot boxing program called Ready for Anything sponsored by Health First. After the boxing program, A.B. showed great improvement in his emotional regulation and decision making and agreed to a mentor and counseling.

After three years of utilizing WAYS wraparound youth services, A.B. has shown tremendous growth. He works two jobs and lives on his own. When volunteer Stella Tobin expressed her desire to donate her 2009 Hyundai Accent to a WAYS member, WAYS decided that A.B. was very deserving. He needed a car to get back and forth to work safely at night. The team at WAYS is THRILLED to pass Stella's generous donation on to A.B., who is availing himself of every opportunity to create better WAYS for life.

The WAYS for Life LiftUp Life Skills Program is excited for Robert who earned his car in May!! He graduated from the LiftUp Life Skills class in 2020 and recently completed all the requirements to receive a car which include getting his GED or high school diploma, having a savings account with $1,000.00, getting his driver's license, and having a job. He worked hard through the two-year COVID pandemic and stayed committed to completing all the requirements. We are thrilled he now has reliable transportation to and from work. Way to go Robert!!

Thank you for your continued support of this life changing program!
